Introduction
Discover who we are and our vision to accelerate 5G-enabled robotics. (13.12.2024)
Förderjahr 2024 / Projekt Call #19 / ProjektID: 7394 / Projekt: RoboSim5G

5G is not just a faster version of 4G; it unlocks new possibilities, especially in industrial applications. RoboSim5G lowers the entry barrier and empowers robotic engineers to explore 5G technology and develop innovativ solutions.

Who Are We?

We are phine.tech, and our goal is to simplify 5G technology and speed up the development of use cases. We provide tools and platforms to make 5G accessible, focusing on areas like robotics where its potential can be fully unlocked.

Who Is It For?

RoboSim5G is designed for robotic developers who want to reduce the complexity of building 5G-enabled solutions. It helps you explore 5G’s full capabilities and develop innovative applications without being overwhelmed by technical barriers. Whether you're an engineer, researcher, or innovator, RoboSim5G simplifies the integration of 5G into your robotic projects.

What Is It?

RoboSim5G is a plugin for the Gazebo simulator that includes gNBs (base stations) and UEs (user equipment, or 5G devices). While the Core Network is not included, there are well-established open-source 5G Core networks available. We will provide clear, step-by-step documentation on how to set up an open-source 5G Core Network and connect it with our plugin.

You can also use our Virtual 5G Lab, a fully virtualized 5G environment that connects seamlessly with RoboSim5G. This allows you to test and simulate advanced 5G features without the need to set up your own 5G network.

Our goal is to ensure that the simulation environment matches real-world 5G networks as closely as possible, supporting advanced features like Quality of Service (QoS) and precise localization.

Timeline

  • August: First functional version of RoboSim5G.
  • End of the Year: Support for advanced features like QoS and accurate localization, ensuring simulations are aligned with real-world scenarios.
